HOW DENTAL IMPLANTS WORK

Implants are inserted directly into the jawbone in the space that was vacated by one or many missing teeth.  While the implant is healing, it will fuse to the bone surrounding it making it very durable and long lasting!  The surgical procedure to place an implant is minor and routine, usually only requiring local anesthesia. Implants by far have a much higher success rate (over 95%) than any other tooth-replacement option. Implants replicate the appearance and feel of natural teeth, and can be as strong or stronger than natural teeth.

Single Tooth Replacement

For a lone gap in your smile, a single dental implant root and crown can be placed between two healthy teeth. This treatment choice has the highest success rate (compared to other tooth replacement options), making it the best long-term investment for replacing a single tooth. Implants never decay or need root canal treatment; it feels and looks just like a natural tooth. Plus, this option is a much less invasive approach than other procedures like a traditional bridge which require neighboring teeth to be filed down.

REPLACING MISSING TEETH

When replacing multiple missing teeth, implants are the ideal replacement option. If you are missing multiple teeth in a row, the good news is you do not have to have an implant placed for every tooth! Implants can act as support on either side of a gap, and a crown is placed between the two.  The benefit of this process is we do not have to use any of your remaining natural teeth as bridge supports, which could make them more susceptible to decay.

FULL MOUTH DENTAL IMPLANTS

If you are missing an entire arch of upper or lower teeth, a full, permanent arch can be placed into the mouth. Just like if you are replacing one or a few missing teeth, this option is never removed, acting as a full set of natural teeth.  The benefit of this option is we can replace 10-12 teeth with only 5-6 implants. Implant replacement teeth protect your jawbone, never move and should last a lifetime!

From there, he creates a customized plan of the dental procedure to discuss with his patient.

Full mouth reconstruction is recommended for patients with existing teeth that need some type of restoration. If a patient has loss of several teeth or has severely worn teeth, the best way to restore them long term is to do a complete mouth reconstruction.
